Nkechinyere (NK) is a Halifax-based therapist with over seven years of experience in mental health, addictions, and community support. She has worked extensively with individuals living with concurrent disorders across hospital, clinic, and private practice settings in both Canada and Nigeria. Originally from Nigeria, NK brings a culturally sensitive, inclusive, and global perspective to her work.

NK recently completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and holds a Graduate Certificate in Concurrent Disorders (Mental Health and Addictions) from Mohawk College. She also holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Windsor University School of Medicine in St. Kitts and Nevis, reflecting her deep commitment to holistic care.

She provides individual, couples, and family counselling, with areas of focus that include anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, concurrent disorders, family conflict, and support through divorce or separation. Her trauma-informed, integrative approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Her work is grounded in culturally responsive and strengths-based care.

NK is a registered member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).

She currently offers both in-person and virtual sessions. Outside of her clinical work, NK enjoys cooking, singing, and relaxing with a good movie. NK is currently accepting new clients for individual counselling, children, teens, couples, and families.
