Mitchell Hunt
Counselling Therapist
Mitchell recently earned his Master’s in Counselling from Acadia University, following a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from St. Mary’s University and a Bachelor of Education from Acadia. He is a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate (RCT-C) and a practicing school counsellor, bringing years of experience supporting youth and adults into his therapeutic work.
Mitchell centers his work on the client-therapist relationship, recognizing that his authentic presence encourages clients to express and explore their true selves in a safe, judgement-free space defined by empathy, compassion, and playful curiosity. His therapeutic approach is integrative, holistic, person-centered, and culturally responsive, drawing from frameworks such as narrative, existential, ACT, and mindfulness-based practices. Whether clients feel stuck, lost, overwhelmed, or caught in limiting narratives, Mitchell strives to provide compassionate support that empowers them to rewrite their stories and reconnect with their authentic selves. He also welcomes spiritual exploration as a meaningful part of the healing journey when it is of value to the client.
Mitchell works with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, addiction, nervous system dysregulation, and many forms of dis-ease that result from imbalances and disconnections within one’s emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual beings. He recognizes that each person brings unique experiences to therapy and is dedicated to working collaboratively, meeting clients wherever they are on their journeys.
Mitchell also brings 5+ years of participating in and facilitating men’s groups, supporting men in their exploration of healthy masculinity and what it means to be a man in today’s world. He deeply understands the pressures and contradictions that social and cultural messages place on men and is passionate about helping all individuals—regardless of gender—connect with both their masculine and feminine energies in ways that feel empowering and authentic.
In his personal life, he cherishes spending quality time with his family, his partner, and their two cats, Juice and Enoki. Embracing a love for nature and the outdoors, he often seeks adventure through camping, cold dipping, multi-day backpacking, trail running, swimming in natural bodies of water, and walking barefoot on the land. He enjoys pushing his mental and physical boundaries, always eager to explore the edges of his comfort zones. At the same time, he finds deep value in quiet and solitude, often immersing himself in a diverse array of books. Anchoring his days is a daily meditation practice, which remains an integral part of his life.
